The self acclaimed ‘common sense’ Senator Republic of Nigeria, Ben Murray Bruce has accused the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari of assuming praises for a project initiated by his predecessors from the regime of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to the tenure of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
On Thursday, President Buhari’s adviser on new media, Bashir Ahmad had announced on his official Twitter handle that the president commissioned the first phase of Light Rail network at World Trade Centre, Abuja.
According to him, the rail mass transit, which will be covering 12 stations within the metropolis is the first Light Rail network in the West Africa.
But, the Bayelsa lawmaker responded to the claim, saying the commissioned project is not an achievement of Buhari’s government.
On his social media pages (both Facebook and Twitter), Senator Ben Bruce said:
“the Abuja Light Railway project today commissioned by President Buhari is NOT an example of the present administration’s delivering on its promises, as the President claimed today. That is factually incorrect. That is a project by the previous government”.
He also criticized the Federal Government for accusing the past government of not doing anything tangible in the country.
“The Abuja Light Railway was initiated by former President Obasanjo and most of the work was completed by the Yar’adua and Jonathan regimes! It is patently dishonest to distort history for political purpose. You say these people did NOTHING, then you go commission their projects!”, he added.
